NIU Cast privacy policy

Updated 13 October 2026. NIU Cast is an independent riding and instrument display app. It is not an official NIU application.

Your choices

Local riding, instrument display and locally stored history do not require product analytics or cloud synchronization. Product analytics and ride synchronization are off until you enable them. You can turn either off in Settings. Buying the app does not require agreeing to optional collection.

Local vehicle connection

Your NIU phone number and verification code are sent directly to NIU for authentication. NIU credentials remain in the iPhone Keychain. Bluetooth vehicle keys and Wi-Fi passwords are used locally and are not uploaded to our operations platform. NIU's own account and service policies apply to its services.

Apple account

Sign in with Apple creates an app account, separate from your NIU vehicle account. We store Apple's app-specific account identifier and encrypted authorization credentials, and an app session token. We do not request your name or email. We validate Apple's signed authentication response.

Optional product analytics

When enabled, we receive an installation identifier, app version, session identifier, interface events, connection outcomes and timing, and sanitized error categories. When you are signed in, these optional batches are associated with your app account. Analytics do not include GPS, destinations, phone numbers, vehicle serial numbers, passwords, screen images or raw error messages. Raw diagnostic batches and installation activity are retained for 30 days. Aggregates do not identify an account. We do not sell data or use it for advertising or cross-app tracking.

Optional device and ride sync

When signed in and synchronization is enabled, we receive your device model, iOS version, app version and language, and all the local riding records you choose to synchronize, including precise GPS route points, their timestamps, speed, distance, vehicle display name, destination display name and recorded battery information. Location is obtained while recording a ride, including an already-started ride continuing with the screen locked. If automatic recording is enabled, foreground location detects movement while connected to your vehicle. We do not add continuous background location collection outside an active recording. Existing records are synchronized once; later requests contain changes and newly appended points.

Cloud records remain until you delete them or delete your app account. GPS and records are associated with your account. Authorized administrators can view this information to operate the service and investigate reported problems. Turning sync off stops future uploads but does not delete copies already synchronized.

Services and storage

Our service uses Cloudflare Workers, D1 for account and record indexes, and private R2 storage for route points and diagnostics. Requests may be processed in Cloudflare's international infrastructure. IP addresses can be processed by Cloudflare for transport, security and rate limiting; our application does not store IP addresses in riding or analytics records. Apple provides authentication, maps and default routing. If you separately enable the BRouter backup route service, the route start and destination are sent to BRouter.

Support requests

If you submit a support request, its subject, message and developer reply are stored privately for up to 90 days. Your private link lets you view the reply or delete the request. Do not include credentials or GPS routes. Support does not require an app account.

Deletion and support

Use Settings → Account and sync → Delete account to initiate deletion of your app account, uploaded devices, routes and account-associated raw diagnostics, and revoke the app's Apple authorization. Local riding history remains on the device unless you separately delete it. Deleting a synchronized ride removes its cloud copy. Deleting the app removes local files; it does not by itself delete your cloud account or the separate NIU account.

For support, use the developer support page. Do not post private GPS routes or credentials in public issues.
